After Taylor's death, his wife, Mary Tan, followed her husband's last wish and stayed in China to engage in women's education. His two daughters also followed in the footsteps of their parents, entered China and married missionaries. Among them, the descendants of Maria and Hudson Taylor are now the fifth generation still standing firmly in the post of the Gospel.
The fifth episode of "Speak By Faith" will present Tyyol's family letters to his wife and children before his death. It was read aloud by Rev. ▶Morrison was the only one who was able to enter China for missionary work in the early days. It was not until the signing of the "Nanjing Treaty" in 1842 that other missionaries had the opportunity to enter China. Tyyol was like this. He could not enter China at that time, so he stayed in Malacca, Malaysia, which is relatively close to China. It is a pity that he was infected with fever as soon as he entered Guangzhou, and he was only 39 years old when he passed away.
▶Taylor is a person who attaches great importance to emotions. >Before he passed away, he wrote several letters, some to missionaries, some to his children, and some to his wife. >His children were too young to read letters at the time, but he still wrote to them. >Those letters were very touching. He talked about heaven and hell with his children, just like a loving father telling his children what is going on in this garden. >
▶ When he was about to die, his attending doctor, Dr. Bojia (also a missionary), asked him: When you die in the future, do you want to bury you next to Morrison’s tomb? He said: When I die, I will be buried in China. I want to bury my bones here to win more Chinese people to believe in the Lord. Taiyol specifically said not to be buried in Macau, because Macau was a Portuguese colony at the time. It is his wish to be buried in China, because he wants to use his tomb to say one thing to the Chinese people: Jesus Christ is the only salvation and hope! The faithful Lord, 156 years later (1999), made his wish to be buried in China come true.
