ManuelaKooschManuelaKoosch, also known as Manuk, is a Romanian paper quilting artist. I believe everyone has seen her works. She shared some experience on making quilted paper letters, which was very beneficial after reading. The protagonist is the letter M.
First is preparation. Type out the letters or numbers you want to make, and trace them on the base board with a pencil. If the pencil print is too heavy, rub it with the eraser a little to soften the lines.
About paper, at least 120 grams, maybe even heavier. If it is less than 120 grams, not only will it not stand up, but it will also wrinkle easily. Most of her works are 120 grams or 160 grams, and it is said that the next work will try 200 grams. She believes that the optimum width is 5 mm. When gluing, choose a corner of a letter or number as the starting point (as shown in the figure below) and start gluing. Use a thin needle or toothpick to pick up a small amount of glue and apply it lightly along the bottom line.
Use your hand ortweezersto gently press for a while to make the paper stick firmly.
When you meet a corner, use a toothpick or a pen as a support to keep the curvature of the letter.
