Some time ago, I uploaded the cover collection of some of my works on Zcool, and the response was not bad (it’s far from the master of the home page), and now the number of views is close to 2000, and it has been reproduced on pptfans, share my little experience
Getting Started
I started to have the awareness of designing ppts from college, because my major is very boring and empty advertising, so I can only work hard on these exaggerated things. I did a project with my mentor and made two ppts well. , although it looks ugly now, it also became a stepping stone to my first job.
In my first job, I spent most of my time doing presentations on the company’s bidding projects. Basically, I had to do more than 90 projects a year. I also encountered one of the top 20 most difficult female bosses in Shanghai and a super nice but demanding boss. Canadian genius director is under great pressure every day, but he has also accumulated a lot of works, laying a solid foundation for future work.
The book I read the most at that time was "PPT Wants You to Look Good", which was relatively introductory and introduced various functions in ppt very systematically. If you are interested, you can buy it.
Boost
Improving aesthetics is always the most difficult and most effective way for design. The qualitative improvement of my works starts with a website, which is Behance. This is the most famous platform for displaying and sharing design works in foreign countries. The things on it are more commercialized, so they are very practical. Basically, if I have time, I will go online to browse the latest works every day, download the ones I like, and now I have a small database of my own. When I have no inspiration, I will also search for "today's theme + brochure" (note that it should be in English). The quality of the found works is hundreds of times better than that of some domestic ppt template websites, but for most people, you may not have the skills of ps and ai to achieve many effects.
Technology
Study ps and ai carefully, this may be the biggest difference between professional and non-professional, so I won’t say much here, the content involved is too wide
Practice
Many people may think my work looks good, but those who do design know that most of the time our design does not come out of thin air, sometimes there are many restrictions, sometimes there are many problems to solve, these must be in the Accumulate bit by bit in experience.
Take the cover of this foldout as an example, because I am not in an advertising company, there will be no photographer to help you shoot the material in the early stage, and there will be no retouching company to help you retouch the picture in the later stage, so basically there is no material to help you. The content of this leaflet is the urban design around the transportation hub, and the transportation hub includes subways, trains, airplanes, etc. It is basically impossible to find a picture that includes these elements from the Internet. It is possible, so I adopted this abstract expression method, using rhombus to roughly stack the shape of a city building group, and then interspersed with various means of transportation.
Some insights
Many times, designers have some paranoia about beauty, and I am also like this, especially when I first started working, I only like to make some very modern and creative things, but as time goes by, I gradually realize that design is always a service functional. A work must first be right, and then it will look good. For example, if you are asked to do something in the financial industry, it should be stable and dignified. If you do something fancy and colorful, no matter how beautiful it is, it will not be adopted. However, how to be stable and creative is to test the skills of a designer. It's time, I have done many covers of this type with the Canadian director before. For another example, you think it’s beautiful to put a size 9 character in this place, but it’s useless to project this thing on a big screen so no one can see it clearly. When you unconsciously start to consider some feelings of the viewers in the design, and consider how to make them understand the content of this page in a shorter time, it means that you are transforming into a mature designer.
In addition, I recommend some official accounts that I like very much:
First of all, it is highly recommended that
Simon_Awen's public account I know a P
ID:ikonwppt
The slogan of his account is "write the most colorful PPT tutorials and share them with sincerity". He really did it, and he did it to the extreme. I won’t say much about the most colorful aspects. Everyone pays attention to experience it. The important thing is that every tutorial is super dry, and it will teach you how to use it with pictures and texts. A very simple way to make some cool effects. Now a total of 13 tutorials have been released. I think you can basically upgrade from a rookie to an intermediate master after reading them. You can read tutorials 01, 02 and 13 in his official account. Briefly introduce the content of these articles, I think you will be interested in reading them.
Tutorial 01----I want to talk to the world about pictures
Teach you how to select pictures and typesetting
Tutorial 02----Seed (Part 1)
Tutorial 03----Seed (Part 2)
Tutorial 04 - more seeds
The misunderstanding is to teach you how to find beautiful pictures, and how to steal pictures
Tutorial 05----office2013 has been underestimated
Introduce the powerful plug-in library behind office. With these, mom no longer has to worry that you can't draw schematic diagrams
Tutorial 06----I insert (1)
Specifically introduce the usage of some plug-ins, hey, I am too embarrassed to type this title. . .
Tutorial 07 - Draw icon in one minute
As the title
Tutorial 08----I insert (2)
Introduce the usage of some plug-ins in detail
Tutorial 09----In that year, I went to a chart girl
Teach you to make charts
Tutorial 10----Word Hi
As the title
Tutorial 11----Uncontrollable Low Poly Design (1)
Tutorial 12----Uncontrollable Low Poly Design (2)
Tutorial 13----Uncontrollable Low Poly Design (3)
A cool and dazzling design style that is very popular now
In addition, I strongly recommend a software Prezi, which is a presentation software that mainly uses zooming and shortcut actions to make ideas more vivid and interesting. As a professional designer, I never apply templates, but the visual effects of the templates set by this software are really amazing, especially the animation effects. Anyway, whoever uses it will know.
If you want to learn more, check out these too:
Jia Wenqian
WeChat ID: flatppt
He has done a lot of research on the production of flat ppt. The "ppt flat design manual" made him famous overnight. I suggest everyone read it
Cao Jiang PPTao
WeChat ID: CJPPTAO
Weibo: General Cao PPTao
I only learned about Awen because he sold ppt templates with him. What Awen makes is mainly visually beautiful, while Cao will pay more attention to efficient chart design.
Magic Square Autumn Leaves PPT
WeChat ID: PPT100
A 3-minute tutorial is pushed every day. The idea is very good, but I think the content is average. The last two issues are to teach you how to draw lanterns, Chinese knots and so on. I really don’t know why I draw these.

Ah Wen sells templates on this website, and I wouldn’t buy them. It’s pretty good to see what others have done for reference.
