Xiaozhuan is also called Qinzhuan, which is simplified from Dazhuan The writing form of Chinese characters is a kind of popular script organized by Prime Minister Li Si after Qin unified the six kingdoms.
Xiaozhuan has been popular in China until the end of the Western Han Dynasty when it was gradually replaced by official script. After Qin Shihuang destroyed the six kingdoms, he ordered to use Qin's "Xiaozhuan" as the standard to unify the writing. When Chinese characters develop to Xiaozhuan stage, they gradually begin to be finalized (contour, strokes, and structure). The pictographic meaning is weakened, which makes the characters more symbolic and reduces confusion and difficulties in writing and recognition.
The Xiaozhuan style of the Qin Dynasty can be seen from the existing relics such as "Taishan Carved Stone", "Langyatai Carved Stone" and Quanliang inscriptions. The strokes of Xiaozhuan are relatively thin, so it is also known as "Jade Chopsticks Seal". It is rectangular in shape, and its structure is often symmetrical, giving people a sense of tallness and beauty.
