Returns the standard deviation of the entire sample population given as an argument, including text and logical values.
Standard deviation reflects the spread of values relative to the mean (mean).
Syntax
STDEVPA(value1,value2,...)
Value1,value2,... correspond to a set of values of the sample population. The number of values can be 1 to 30. You can also use a single array or a reference to an array
is used instead of comma-separated parameters.
Description
■ Parameters containing TRUE are evaluated as 1; parameters containing text or FALSE are evaluated as 0.
If you cannot include text or logical values in your calculations, use the STDEVP worksheet function instead.
■ Function STDEVPA assumes that the parameter is the sample population.
If the data represent a sample of the population, you must use the function STDEVA to estimate the standard deviation.
■ For large sample sizes, the return values of functions STDEVA and function STDEVPA are approximately equal.
■ Here the standard deviation is calculated using the "biased" and "n" methods.
■ Where x is the sample mean AVERAGE(value1,value2,…) and n is the sample size.
