The editor has shared two tutorials on making antique seals before. Today we will learn to make a circular seal. The skills used are mainly path text and channels.
How about a rendering first? Isn’t it very realistic? Okay, let's demonstrate it in detail.
Tools/Materials:
Computer, Photoshopcc2019
Method/Steps:
1. Making a seal
1. Create a new file, 1000*1000 pixels, click "View", as shown in the figure below, in the menu that opens, check "Align", check "Ruler" (the shortcut key to open/close "Ruler" is Ctrl +H).
Pull out a horizontal guide line from the upper ruler and move it to the middle of the canvas. Then, pull out a vertical guide line from the left hand side and move it to the middle of the canvas. After the operation, as shown in the figure below, having the guide line can help Our more precise typesetting.
2. Click the "Ellipse Tool" and set "Fill" in the property bar: None; "Stroke", red; Stroke width: about 15 pixels.
Hold down the shift key, draw a perfect circle, click the "Move Tool", adjust the position of the circle, and move it to the center of the canvas, as shown in the figure below.
3. Click "Text Tool" and set the font. In this case, choose "Songti" and choose red as the color.
Move the mouse close to the circle. When an S-shaped curve appears under the mouse pointer, as shown in the figure below, click the left mouse button. At this time, we enter the text "Tiantian Xiangxiang Technology Co., Ltd." and the text will follow the trajectory of the circle. Arrange, this is the path text.
4. Click "Window", select "Character", open the character panel, and adjust the font size to the appropriate size.
The text is now on the periphery of the red circle. We can move the text to the appropriate position within the red circle by adjusting the value of "Baseline Offset" (the value of the baseline offset controls the distance between the text and the circle). Location.
After the text is moved from outside the circle to inside the circle, it obviously becomes a lot more crowded. In the "Character" panel, adjust the "Character Spacing" to the appropriate distance between the text, as shown in the figure below.
Observing the text, we will find that the text at the beginning and end is not on a horizontal line, and the text on the left is higher. We need to make an adjustment to the text.
Click the "Path Selection Tool" or the "Direct Selection Tool" and drag the mouse close to the text. When a black triangle appears on the right side of the mouse pointer, as shown in the figure below, drag the mouse along the path and we can adjust the position of the text. location on the path.
5. The path text has been adjusted in this way. Next, we will make the five-pointed star in the middle of the seal.
Click the "Polygon Tool", set the "Fill" in the property bar to red; "Stroke" to None; set the "Side" to "5", draw a five-pointed star on the canvas, select the "Move Tool", and adjust the five-pointed star The position and size, the effect after operation is as shown in the figure below.
6. Okay, let’s create the text under the five-pointed star. Click the "Text Tool", enter the text "Creative Seal", open the "Character" panel, adjust the word spacing, and adjust the text size.
Ctrl+H hides the guide lines, as shown in the picture below, we have created a seal.
2. Creating the mottled effect of stamping
1. Hold down the shift key, select all the seal effects, Ctrl+E to merge the layers, and name the merged layer "seal".
Hold down the Ctrl key and click on the "Seal" layer thumbnail to bring up the seal selection, as shown in the figure below.
Click "Channel" to open the channel panel, as shown in the figure below, create a new channel, and Ctrl+delete to fill the background color with white.
2. Click "Filter - Pixelate - Copperplate Engraving", as shown in the figure below. In the opened "Copperplate Engraving" dialog box, select "Coarse Dot" for "Type". This step is to get the mottled stamp. Effect.
Ctrl+Alt+F, execute the copperplate engraving (coarse dot) command of the filter again to enhance this effect.
In order to make the mottled effect richer, we can change the parameters of the copper plate engraving, click "Filter - Pixelate - Copper plate engraving", this time select "Short Straight Line" for "Type". (Everyone can try the types here to make the mottled effect richer)
3. Continue to enrich the stamping effect. The previous mottled effects are randomly produced by the software. Next, we will "manually" create some more prominent mottled effects.
Click the "Brush Tool" and switch to the "Brush Settings" panel, as shown in the figure below, select the "Splash" brush, adjust the brush size (you can also reduce the opacity appropriately), the foreground color is black, and in the stamp selection, Click or smudge as desired to create more dappled effects.
4. Ctrl+D to cancel the selection, click the first button under the channel panel "Load channel as selection", click the RGB channel, and return to the layer panel.
5. Close the small eyes in front of the "Seal" layer, hide the "Seal" layer, and copy the selection with Ctrl+J, as shown in the picture below. We can clearly see the mottled effect of the seal at this time.
6. In addition to the above methods, we can also use mottled materials to quickly create mottled effects. This method has been used before when we made antique seals.
Click the "Move Tool" and drag in the mottled material. The material is a bit small, so we will enlarge it to cover the seal part, as shown in the picture below.
Open the "Channel" panel, click the first button under the channel panel "Load Channel as Selection", return to "Layer", close the small eyes in front of the mottled material layer, hide the mottled material, and select the "Stamp" image layer, press delete to delete, Ctrl+D to cancel the selection, and observe the image. At this time, is there more mottled effect?
7. In order to make the sealing effect more realistic, we will blur the seal again.
Click "Filter - Blur - Motion Blur", as shown in the figure below. While observing the image on the left, we adjust the parameters "Distance" and "Radius". In this case, the "Distance" is set to 6 pixels. If you want to get a more blurry effect, you can adjust it appropriately. Increase the value and click OK. The effect after the operation is as follows.
We can also lower the opacity appropriately to make the stamping effect more realistic.
3. Storing electronic seal
Once the seal with stamping effect is created, we can save it as a png file or define it as a brush.
As shown in the picture below, hide the background layer. At this time, we get a stamp with a transparent background, and then click "Edit-Define Brush Preset" and name it "Stamp".
At this time, the mouse pointer changes to the shape of the seal we just made. By adjusting the size of the brush, you can adjust the size of the seal. We click the left square bracket "[" to reduce the brush. OK, stamp! , as shown in the picture below, the effect is quite realistic, right? Are you sure you don’t want to try such an interesting skill?
