Throughout the history of Chinese calligraphy, the famous calligraphers are all well-read and knowledgeable. The same is true for Ouyang Xun. He is smart and eager to learn, not only proficient in history, but also very fond of calligraphy, and he studies hard every day.
When Ouyang Xun was studying calligraphy, he did not stay in one family, but learned a variety of calligraphy styles together. Therefore, he is good at writing in 8 fonts. He admired Wang Xizhi's regular script, and on the basis of Wang Xizhi, he changed his style and created his own calligraphy style, which is called European style by the world.
Ouyang Xun created many calligraphy works in his life, and a large number of excellent works have been handed down to the present. The regular script includes "Jiucheng Palace Liquan Ming", "Huangfu's Birthday Stele" and "Huadu Temple Stele", and the running script includes "Zhongni Meng Lian Tie" and " "Thousand Characters in Running Script", etc.
The most representative regular script is "Jiucheng Palace Liquan Ming". This stone inscription was written by Wei Zheng and Ouyang Xun. The pens used in its characters are extremely square, the characters are arranged compactly and well-proportioned, and the frames between characters are also very open and stable. It can be called a wonderful product in regular script.
The fonts created by Ouyang Xun can be described as strong and sharp, and can create a dangerous atmosphere in the plain. When Ouyang Xun's calligraphy level reached its peak, his fame also became famous all over the world. Not only people in the Tang Dynasty wanted to get his calligraphy works, but even the Goguryeo people at that time also wanted to get his works.
In addition to leaving many outstanding calligraphy works for the world, Ouyang Xun's greatest contribution lies in sorting out the structure of regular script. By sorting out the font structure of regular script, Ouyang Xun summed up 36 methods of regular script structure, which is the "Thirty-Six Methods of Ouyang Xun" recorded in the history of calligraphy. The emergence of these thirty-six methods indicates that the concept of calligraphy structure in our country has matured, played a very important role in the development of calligraphy, and also provided a reference for calligraphy lovers to learn regular script.
