JetBrains today launched a new font, JetBrains Mono, which is designed for developers.
JetBrains says:
Most of the time today, we as developers are looking at code. We're always on the lookout for the best fonts to make it easier for us to view text on screen. However, the logic in many popular fonts doesn't always take into account the difference between reading through code and reading a book. Our eyes move along code in very different ways, often having to move both vertically and horizontally, unlike reading books because they always slide along the text in the same direction.
Therefore, when developing with JetBrains Mono, we focused, among other things, on issues that can cause eyestrain during prolonged use of the code. We considered issues such as the size and shape of the letters; the amount of space between them, naturally balanced in a monospaced font design; some seemingly unnecessary details and unclear distinctions between symbols, such as I and l; and and programmatic ligatures when developing fonts.
From version 2019.3, the JetBrains Mono font will be provided with the IDE, of course, you can download it and use it in any editor you want.
