My name is Ye Tianyu. I am 27 years old. I started to like to do some fonts and text graffiti when I was in high school.
After graduating from Communication University of China in 2013, I have been working on the Internet. I have to renovate the interface almost every week. In the Internet age, the vitality of design products is very short, and they are replaced at any time. This makes me feel uneasy and even a little impetuous. I found that what I wanted to do most was font design, so in 2016, I quit my job and started a so-called font startup by myself, setting up Magpie Character Creation Studio.
Most of our impressions of Chinese characters are black characters on a white background. Looking at a certain font in the computer, I actually don’t know what visual possibilities this font can bring, and where is the beauty.
Because Chinese characters have sound, shape and meaning, they are not only carriers of information, but also graphics, so I picked out a few characters and made a set of animations.
In addition to showing people the subtlety of pictographs, such as deleting, I made the deleted interface of WeChat into a word to make the word interesting.
I usually make works, participate in font design competitions, and have won awards.
The process of writing is like falling in love with someone you like. I want to be with him every day and I am very happy.
