WhyWhy is there a Taipei black body?
Is there a lack of useful (and free) basic fonts in the traditional Chinese world?
Most free traditional Chinese fonts nowadays meet the standards of education departments in Taiwan and Hong Kong, and are not always suitable for printing. Typographic fonts are mostly copyright fonts, and users must pay to obtain them.
After Adobe and Google launched SourceHanSans or NotoSansCJK, SourceHanSans immediately occupied many graphic designs in the traditional Chinese world. However, many people pointed out that the design of the TC/TW version of this product is not even suitable for printing.
Therefore, Han Zi Foundry invests in the modification of open source fonts, based on Siyuan HeiTi, so that users of traditional Chinese can also have printing style HeiTi suitable for different situations.
Taipei Black Body is the first product under this concept!

Taipei HeiTi is based on Siyuan HeiTi developed and published by Adobe. The modification is based on the SILOpenFontLicense1.1 authorization of Siyuan Blackbody.
Taipei HeiTi is also authorized as a free and open font product based on SILOpenFontLicense1.1.

Scope of use
This font can be freely used in any context, whether for personal or commercial use.
Users can modify or distribute this font based on the content of SILOpenFontLicense1.1.
The restricted scope of use is the same as the specification of SILOpenFontLicense1.1.
Example:Users may not directly change the font name and claim it as their own.
3. The meaning of "almost no shortage of Chinese characters"
The modification of Taipei HeiTi is based on the KR version of Siyuan HeiTi. The Chinese characters needed for daily life in the traditional Chinese world have been unified as far as possible into the printing style and conform to contemporary habits.
Taipei HeiTi retains all the Chinese characters supported by Siyuan HeiTi (including simplified Chinese characters, Japanese Kanji, and Korean Hanja) and Japanese kana, but some Chinese characters not included in the KR version will still be written in the TW or CN version.
4. The file format is TTF
In order to ensure that the font is compatible with different operating systems and different environments, the font format is TTF.
After testing, in MicrosoftOffice, AdobeCreativeCloud, and MacOS environments, Taipei HeiTi is normal.

Prioritize 3 font weights (light, regular, bold) to avoid programmatic bolding of fonts, and also meet the basic needs of webpage and graphic design.
【Taipei Heiti｜Phase 2】End before December 2020
make up the remaining 4 weights (extralight, normal, medium, heavy) to meet the advanced needs of various designs.
