Determine the probability of success. Use the function HYPGEOMDIST to solve finite population problems, where each observation is either a success or a failure.

And each subset has an equal probability of occurrence for a given sample size.

Syntax
HYPGEOMDIST(sample_s,number_sample,population_s,number_population)
Sample_s The number of successes in the sample.
Number_sample sample size.
Population_s The number of successes in the sample population.
Number_population The capacity of the sample population.

Description

All parameters will be truncated.

If any parameter is non-numeric, HYPGEOMDIST returns the #VALUE! error value.

HYPGEOMDIST returns the #NUM! error value if any of the following conditions occur.

1. sample_s < 0 or sample_s is greater than the smaller value of number_sample and population_s
2. sample_s is less than 0 or the larger value of (number_sample - number_population + population_s)
3. number_sample ≤ 0 or number_sample > number_population
4. population_s ≤ 0 or population_s > number_population
5. number_population ≤ 0
