The Northern Song Dynasty version of "Stone Drum Wen" Qing Yiwei Ruan Yuan Chongfu Tianyi Pavilion Collection:

Seal script (Oracle bone inscriptions and pictographs) is also the beginning of Chinese characters. Among the remains of pre-Qin stone inscriptions discovered so far, the earliest belongs to "Shiguwen", which belongs to the seal script in the history of calligraphy, also known as "Zhouwen". The engraved stone was discovered in the early Tang Dynasty. The original stone is in the shape of a drum, and there are ten stones in total, each of which is engraved with a poem in four characters, with a diameter of more than three feet. The content describes the hunting of Qin Guojun, so it is also called "hunting Jie". It was once abandoned in Chencang Yunye, so it is also called "Chencang Shijie". The original stone was in Sanwanyuan, Tianxing (now Baoji, Shaanxi). After twists and turns, the stone is now in the Beijing Palace Museum.

In the summer of the second year of Jiaqing (1797), Ruan Yuan carefully examined the rubbings of the Northern Song "Shiguwen" collected by Tianyi Pavilion. "(Ruan) Yuan, in the summer of the second year of Jiaqing, carefully examined the Tianyi Pavilion edition, reviewed the editions of the early Ming Dynasty, studied the fonts, imitated the meaning of calligraphy, and carved them into ten stones. Except for heavy texts, all identifiable ones were four hundred and seventy. Two characters..." ("Hangzhou-Yangzhou Re-imitation of Tianyi Pavilion Northern Song Stone Drum Postscript").

According to Ruan Yuanji, "Qiyang Stone Drum Inscription is the oldest among the music stones in the world, and the Northern Song Dynasty version of Songxuezhai (Zhao Mengfu) in the collection of Tianyi Pavilion in Eastern Zhejiang is the oldest stone drum inscription.
