According to the latest report of the Russian business daily Vedomosti on April 14, American Monotype, the copyright owner of the well-known fonts Times New Roman and Arial, is suspected of joining anti-Russian sanctions, restricting access by Russian users.
The report pointed out that when a Russian user visits Monotype's font library this week, the page shown above will be displayed:“The site's owner may have set restrictions that prevent you from accessing the site.” (the site owner may have placed restrictions that prevent you from accessing the site).
It is understood that the website is denying access to users from Russian IP addresses. However, when Russian users access through VPN, they can successfully open the website.
As of press time, Monotype has not made any official statement on blocking Russian users from accessing its font library, nor has there been a specific date for the closure of access rights.
