As a primary skill of handbook fonts, I will not allow you to! The following is the most basic version of the shadow drawing method of the English letters in Kangkang's handbook (for beginners' reference, masters can use it by themselves)~
Two basic principles
★Unified direction
▪Upper left or lower right?
No matter which one, choose the one you are used to and keep it consistent.
▪Avoid contradictions.
Take a look after writing, how come some shadows are below, and some parts go to the body? That won't work~
★ Keep distance/thickness
▪The distance between the thin line shadow and the body is consistent
▪The color-filling shadow fits the body without gaps, keeping the thickness consistent.
▪The thinner the shadow, the more attention should be paid to the distance
Two basic shapes
▪Square: All straight parts fall into this category. Such as T, F, W, etc.
▪Circular: All curved parts fall into this category. Such as S, O, etc.
▪Many letters are a combination of two, such as P, R, Q, etc.
▪Focus: pay attention to selectively ignore where there are more arcs
Specific applications
Take the shadow direction as "lower right" as an example, sometimes I don't know whether the stroke should be drawn on the right or the bottom?
▪Here comes the important point: except for the completely horizontal horizontal line, which is subject to "down", all the others (vertical line |, slash /, slash \, etc.) are based on "right"! (For other directions, if you choose "upper left", the same is true)
▪Mantra: the horizontal shadow is up and down, and the rest are left or right. Choose the bottom right without top left, and choose the top left without bottom right.
