Text design is the most detailed part of interface design, and it is also the most basic part that cannot be ignored. There are two major factors to consider in the interface design process: text recognition and interface legibility.
In any effective interface, a hierarchical design can distinguish important parts of the interface from less important parts, and can make fuss about alignment, spacing, color, indentation, and fonts. When all of these are adjusted appropriately, they can improve the readability of the entire interface.
Many designers who are new to APP interfaces are often troubled by font size, font color, and spacing. After getting the design requirements, I started to design, but I didn’t know how to adjust the font size and line spacing of the interface.
Regular font
Every word and every character in the interface is important. Good text is good design, and text is the most fundamental interface. We designers need to shape and polish this information. The biggest difference between fonts is not the presence or absence of serifs, but the difference in shape between fonts. However, many fonts are not very different from each other, and some new fonts are even produced by slight modifications of existing fonts.
Therefore, the fonts were divided into several large series. The fonts in the same series were roughly the same and were called universal font series. These include the following five series:
①With serif font. Times New Roman is the default s serif font. For Chinese fonts, it is Song Dynasty, Song Dynasty and other fonts.
② Sans serif font. The default sans serl font, Microsoft Yahei, Heibo, etc. among Chinese fonts are such fonts.
③Monospaced font. Each letter in this font has the same width and is usually used to display program code, etc. Courier is the default fixed-width font, and for Chinese, each Chinese character is fixed-width.
④Imitate handwriting fonts. Handwriting is more personal and is usually used for titles, logos, etc. This font series does not have a default font. For English, Comicsans is usually used. For Chinese, fonts in the running script series and cursive script series can be counted as handwritten fonts.
⑤ Decorative fonts. Most of them are used for titles, which are very personalized and have many fonts. They are artistic fonts.
Regular font size
Since the space of mobile devices is small and the ambient light is usually weak, more attention should be paid to the selection of fonts and font sizes. Text size is just a range, which depends on the visual effect of the design. There is no strict standard for font size, but in APP design, there are four font sizes involved: 32px, 28x, and 24px. The font size must be an even number, which is a multiple of 4.
Here we need to popularize the concept of px to everyone. px refers to the pixel unit, and 10px represents the size of 10 pixels. It is often used to represent the font size, which is very convenient and intuitive.
Spacing and line width
Line width is the length of a line of text. The ideal line width for comfortable reading is about 50 characters. The size of the line spacing depends on the design and spacing of the text; the line spacing is the space between lines. Font color
The text in the interface is divided into three levels, including main text, subtext, prompt copy, etc. On a white background, the color levels of fonts are actually black, dark gray, and gray. Commonly used color values are #333333, #666666, and #999999.
